About the Program

At the College of Charleston, faculty from across four schools teach courses that expose students to the fundamentals and applications of archaeology. The program recognizes the completion of a course of study designed to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of a field that routinely integrates elements of the social sciences, humanities, arts, and natural sciences. This program serves as a means to unify and coordinate archaeological study at the College of Charleston and to provide a forum for intellectual contact between faculty, students, and broader community.“With knowledge gained from a variety of courses in the minor, I had the opportunity to plan and perform an archaeological excavation, analyze data gathered in the field, and coauthor and present a professional conference paper. That experience gave me the confidence to realize a career in archaeology.”
