At the College of Charleston, faculty from across four schools teach courses that expose students to the fundamentals and applications of archaeology. The program recognizes the completion of a course of study designed to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of a field that routinely integrates elements of the social sciences, humanities, arts, and natural sciences. This program serves as a means to unify and coordinate archaeological study at the College of Charleston and to provide a forum for intellectual contact between faculty, students, and broader community.

“With knowledge gained from a variety of courses in the minor, I had the opportunity to plan and perform an archaeological excavation, analyze data gathered in the field, and coauthor and present a professional conference paper. That experience gave me the confidence to realize a career in archaeology.”
